Inverted Hammer

A bullish reversal candle with long upper wick at support

An inverted hammer has a small body near the bottom and a long upper wick. Despite the upper wick, it is bullish when appearing at support - showing buyers are starting to fight back even though sellers still dominate.

How to Recognize

  • Small body at bottom of candle
  • Long upper wick (2x+ body length)
  • Little to no lower wick
  • Appears at support after decline

How to Avoid

  • Requires stronger confirmation than regular hammer
  • Must appear at clear support
  • Bullish confirmation candle is essential
  • Less reliable than regular hammer
