Candlestick Patterns

Marubozu

A strong candle with no wicks, showing decisive movement

A marubozu is a candle with no wicks (or very small wicks) - the open equals the high/low and close equals the low/high. It shows strong conviction in one direction without any rejection.

How to Recognize

  • No wicks or very minimal wicks
  • Open at one extreme, close at the other
  • Large body relative to recent candles
  • Shows strong momentum

How to Avoid

  • Strong signal but can indicate exhaustion
  • Don't chase marubozu candles
  • Wait for pullback entry
  • May be part of larger pattern
